Hello... long time no see, no hear...... Actually, since AGLOCO was announced dead part of me died too ;) I even forgot my password! Anyway...life has to go on...

Remember my entry Land Investment in the UK. Is it for real? posted on 2 July 2007? So did anyone happen to buy land in the UK for investment? Well you have to be very careful then...the property market over there is also not doing very good...In fact the whole world is affected / impacted.

Bank Negara raids Walton offices
BANK Negara Thursday raided Walton International Property Group (M) Sdn Bhd following complaints from the public on land banking schemes promoted by the company.

The central bank said in a statement yesterday that the raids were simultaneously conducted at the premises of the company in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

It advises the public to be cautious of this type of land banking schemes promoted by Walton.

“Any elements of deposit-taking activities and public offerings such as interest schemes or investment in real estate schemes should be referred to the appropriate authorities such as Bank Negara, Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia and Securities Commission,” it says. — Bernama

AGLOCO is DEAD!

It is now confirmed that AGLOCO is dead!

This is the email I received from the Development Team today.

We would like to update you on the status of AGLOCO's operations. We continue to believe in the AGLOCO concept, but our revenue is currently not sufficient to give Members a meaningful distribution. And though there are increases in membership, the resulting revenue is not enough to support operating costs. As a development team we are unable to continue to use our savings to fund the operations. If any Member would like to pursue continuing the operations of AGLOCO, you may contact us at agloco1@live.com .

We would like to thank every Member for supporting our effort to bring a piece of the Internet directly to the user. We hope that we can find a way to keep the operations going.

I have been trying to access Online Advertising Killer website for the past 4 weeks or so, but every time I only see this...
Where has it gone? Has it gone dead? What about the announcement they made on 20 August 2007. (Read my earlier post here)

Dear Value Members, Here have an announcement for our value members. During the interview between the advertisers, we found that this website have to improve in order to fulfill the advertisers requirement. The responses from the advertisers are the membership in this website is too limited for them to advertise. Therefore, our website has to restructure and this year will be our membership recruitment period.

October Update

First – for those of you who have given some thoughtful ideas, questions and opinions on our posts during the last two weeks – thank you.

At this point, we would like to give some feedback on some of the ideas and thoughts given.

Is the payment plan posted last month a permanent plan? No – as noted in a comment we made this is a plan we wanted to implement now to show Members that even though AGLOCO is currently losing money the hours they are putting in now would be compensated. Our website states that we will make no distributions until profitable. We could have considered a plan that the June, July, and August hours would be paid zero since no profits were forthcoming. We felt that would be an unfair plan to those Members who were supporting AGLOCO in its startup period. That is the purpose of this initial plan.

Can the payments be sped up? Of course they could – although the idea we were considering was making additional ‘bonus’ payments to the early hours (June, July, August, etc 2007 hours) when and if additional funds became available.

Should AGLOCO borrow money to pay Members? We believe this would be a critical error for AGLOCO. Giving out money that it was not earning was the downfall of AllAdvantage and we believe that spending only what AGLOCO makes is the best course for long term stability.

Why have tradable hours? A number of Members have asked about doing this and we looked into it. It seemed like a possible good solution for those Members who had joined now, but were not wanting to wait for AGLOCO to mature to reap some benefits. Getting ownership to Members will be a costly process which would done on a country by country basis. We had hoped to be over 10,000,000 AGLOCO Members at this point to help spread those costs. At a bit over one million Members, AGLOCO is not yet big enough to justify the costs (instead of Member distributions we would have lawyers’ bills.)

By having hours that have a potential residual income stream plus potential quarterly or annual bonus distributions coming in, we felt that these hours would have tradable value today which Members wanting to sell could realize. In this way Members wanting cash now could get it and Members wanting more of AGLOCO’s future could also get it. That is how the tradability of hours relates to the bonus payments and residual payments in this initial distribution plan.

Tradable hours versus ownership? It is not possible to have the AGLOCO hours (or accounts) tradable/salable and still have the potential plan for those hours being used directly in AGLOCO future ownership system (creates a potential securities law conflict). That is why we have asked for feedback on this issue as there have so many requests to make hours tradable. If hours did become salable now and we ended up not using hours in the future for ownership, we would need to develop a new method of giving the ownership of AGLOCO to Members as the Management Company is fully committed that AGLOCO Members get the economic benefits of AGLOCO (and the Management Company gets their 10%). We believe it is this division of economics that is the core of why AGLOCO is a good long term company for Members. – All of this does not mean that in a year or so that we could not use all of the hours to distribute ownership, it just severs any connection at this time.

Where did the $100,000 go in June, July and August? During those June, July and August AGLOCO’s biggest monthly costs were $15,000 to $20,000 in monthly server, bandwidth etc. costs – $15,000 to $25,000 a month for the tech team in Shanghai – and $2,000 a month for the Member Service team in the Philippines (Plus about $1,000 a month in other costs.)

One million Members? Yes AGLOCO has over one million verified Members – with over 350,000 downloads and with over 250,000 Viewbars having been used more than the five hours credit limit

Do Members have to buy things for AGLOCO to succeed? In every economic system trade must occur or it will fail. AGLOCO is no exception. Companies will not want to partner with (or advertise with) AGLOCO if it is not profitable for them. So they will measure the results of their partnering/advertising with AGLOCO and if it is not profitable they will stop. This is one of the great things about Google, Yahoo, Ask etc. Ads on their systems work. People click on some of the ads and then some of them go on to buy. This will also be true for AGLOCO. While no individual Member need be a specific buyer, as a group the AGLOCO Membership needs to be worth advertising to in order for AGLOCO to succeed.

Website? We know it needs work and we know it can take only minutes. Our chief problem here is that in June we used our website editing server to help stabilize the website and we have not had time to install a new editing server. This means all edits must be done by the tech team in Shanghai and we have not wanted to break them from the more revenue generating tasks mainly integrating Ask.com. A project which is still occupying them full time. We hope to rectify this soon.

Beta Viewbar? The Viewbar we are all using is an early version. We are using the beta term to signify that we have a great deal of work left to do on the Viewbar before we feel it is of production quality. It will probably be in beta for another 12 to 18 months at least. Essentially, all of AGLOCO is in Beta right now as we all learn the realities of what can be done and how to do it.

17 ad networks? Prior to the first download of the Viewbar we had an agreement with a third party to supply AGLOCO from 17 ad networks. While working with the tech team to implement this system it became apparent that the third party would not be able to deliver on their promise. We then came up with two networks to use and an ad server system that did not have targeting ability in order to launch the Viewbar. The Ask.com deal is a significant step forward on that front.

Ads for the Viewbars in India? While Ask.com covers searching in India, we have had trouble interesting an ad network for Viewbar ads for our Indian Members. A few weeks ago Tyroo and AGLOCO were unable to reach an agreement to supply ads in India. (While we are committed to working on a Win98 Viewbar, having a local Indian ad network would help move it up on the priority list for the tech team. If any Indian Member has good connections at an Indian ad network we could use a good introduction there. Use email partners@agloco.com to help make contact.)

Tech questions that go unanswered? Members sometimes post technical questions. Unless this is a widespread problem we usually do not respond to these in the blog. They are best sent to Member services at help@agloco.com. Most often we can not ‘fix’ an individual Member’s tech problem because unless it effects many Members and unless there are a couple of good data points to find out the source of the problem, it is currently too expensive for AGLOCO to try to have a tech person work on a single problem at this point. Some other tech problems which do effect multiple Members are on the correction list; like the ads in the Viewbar not rotating for all users, which is a combination browser and ad server problem. We worked hard to fix this at the server lever and did fix some of the problem (this is a third-party ad server – not ours) Since we knew we would be changing ad servers within a couple of months we decided to focus resources on the Ask.com needs instead of working more on an ‘old’/existing ad server – which we do not even own.

What can you do to help? While we do not have any results from Ask.com yet, we are hopeful that revenue from Ask will put AGLOCO on a stable footing, allowing both distributions and service expansion. We believe that AGLOCO’s active Membership is one of AGLOCO’s biggest strengths. At this point, we hope to start to take real advantage of this strength with some of the revenue from the Ask.com deal. If you are interested in getting more involved and helping to build the company we would like to know. (There were some comments in the blog about setting up a forum and having moderators for example). We are sure some AGLOCO Members could make contributions to the Viewbar, the website, revenue improvements and other operations. Use the partners@agloco.com address if you are interested. Please indicate any area of interest and any expertise you have – like software engineer.

People making nonsense comments on this blog? By most standards AGLOCO has a very open blog comment policy. When we see spam comments, repetitive comments, rude comments as well as spotting comments with offensive language, we try to delete them. We probably leave too many comments on the blog, but we have felt that even though some of the negative statements are untrue or gross exaggerations – sometimes some of the positive ones are as well. For the most part we see comments as people’s opinions and we try not to edit them.

Just The Beginning

Hello everyone, this is Brian Greenwald. I have not posted on my own here for awhile but I thought I’d write one sharing my personal thoughts on the payment program that the last post was about (there will be another post with answers to questions made in comments which should be out this week – and written by others).

It’s been a little while since I moved away from the blog to work on some new revenue deals. I hope you are as pleased with Ask.com as we have been – they are far and away the best partner for AGLOCO at this time.

I had some thoughts after seeing the reaction to our last post on Member Distributions. As was expected, some people liked what we had to say, recognizing that AGLOCO is slowly but surely building a sustainable business. Still, some thought the payouts were too low. And, if these were the payout values for every month going forward, I might agree. But, these values are only the beginning. As AGLOCO becomes more profitable, the value of future months’ hours will grow and the time frame in which AGLOCO pays will shrink.

I like to keep in mind that we are trying to have AGLOCO do exactly what we said it would: create a fair system on the internet where Members get paid for what their activity is worth. The simple fact is that Members’ activity in June, July, and August did not generate very much revenue for AGLOCO, and there is no free lunch. As Member surfing becomes more valuable (i.e. generates more revenue for AGLOCO), payouts will increase in turn.

Actually, AGLOCO is doing MORE than what it promised. AGLOCO always said that it would pay Members when it become profitable. If AGLOCO was going strictly by this model, June, July, and August hours would be worth nothing. Still, we know that early Members spent time building the community and thought they should get something for their early surfing hours. So we devised a method to achieve that with the Residual Payments.

Part of this is AGLOCO’s responsibility for at first having (frankly) mediocre revenue deals for Members to capitalize on. But that’s where the Ask deal comes in. As promised, we are building our revenue sources so that Member activity can become more valuable. We’re gaining momentum and coming much closer to profitability with every month that passes. As we’ve said in previous emails and posts, this will be a process that takes time. Soon, not only will we have revenue coming from search and from ads, but we will continue to build our revenue sources wherever money is made from your surfing all over the internet. And, we will build the functionality of the Viewbar and add tools to help the community grow.

I wish this process would move faster, but in order for AGLOCO Members to get the lions share of the company’s value, we had to (at least for now) give up on venture capitalists. This means we have been running on a very lean budget with limited resources (with a development team still working for free). Once we become profitable, we will have a much better ability to expand our investment in making these improvements.

It is very normal for startup companies to have months or years without profitability (we are still a young company - ask google or facebook how long it took them to have their first profitable month). Looking conservatively at our finances (and given the fact that we expect to earn more money as time goes on – if we don’t, the company will go under), it turns out that the best way to provide Members with the most value at this point is to defer some of the value of their payment to a time in which our most conservative projections expect we will have the funds to pay it (personally, I found 10 years to be a bit too long, but I was outvoted by the folks who had just spent three straight days with the budget numbers).

Also remember that the monthly payments in this payout system will stack over time. Combined with the fact that we expect the value of each hour to increase as time goes on, and the payouts can eventually get quite large.

Since I wrote many of them, I encourage you to go back and read what we wrote about Member distributions in the past (for example, here and here). We’ve been quite consistent in saying that AGLOCO will pay when it is profitable and that the process of building revenue is one that will take time (until which, payouts would start out modest and build). Most importantly, we maintain that AGLOCO is NOT a “get rich quick” scheme. If you are looking for a scheme that pays something for nothing, then perhaps AGLOCO is not for you. In order to pay real money to real people, that money has to come from somewhere. Your surfing needs to earn money for the community. Your referrals’ surfing needs to earn money for the community. It doesn’t just materialize out of thin air (we talk about AGLOCO’s Value Proposition in several old posts). Those Members who are going to join AGLOCO in success are the ones who realize that it is just now laying the foundation, and that it will take time to build a sustainable revenue stream.

And, as discussed, AGLOCO may be developing the ability for Members to trade hours. Then, Members who want the full value of their hours up front can trade them on the open marketplace to other Members who are willing to. We are still looking for more feedback on that issue.

Just another one-off thought. I read some comments that seemed to assume we would have a $100 minimum payout. This is not the case. While we will specifically contact those Members who earned $100 from June, July, and August hours (kudos to those of you in this category), I anticipate that the minimum payout will be between $10-$30, though AGLOCO has not set a firm value yet.

AGLOCO update: We will be paid!

Great news AGLOCO members! AGLOCO is going to pay its members for the surfing hours...

This is the latest AGLOCO update on Member Distributions. I have copied the whole thing and pasted it here for future reference.

Since AGLOCO started its Viewbar in June, we have been working to deliver an early money distribution plan that will be work for both Members and AGLOCO at this time. It was decided to start with the AGLOCO Monthly Residual Payments. These are small monthly payments which will be made for hours earned each month and paid monthly for 10 years. The following rates have been set (amounts are expressed in US currency):

• June $0.48 per hour - ($0.0040 per month for 120 months)
• July $0.42 per hour - ($0.0035 per month for 120 months)
• August $0.54 per hour - ($0.0045 per month for 120 months)

AGLOCO Monthly Residual Payments become payable when declared such by AGLOCO. We are working to add the accounting feature to the account page to show this to each Member, but that will not be available until after all the Ask.com features have been integrated.

In addition to the AGLOCO Monthly Residual Payments hours may become eligible for Bonus Payments. If AGLOCO exceeds expectations and builds funds in excess of reserves needed it may be possible to make AGLOCO Bonus Payments. We do not expect this to happen anytime in the near future. The details on the Bonus Payments and the Monthly Residual payments will be placed on the account page along with the accounting display.

1. How is AGLOCO doing financially?

As you know AGLOCO launched stating it would make Member distributions when it was profitable. On this blog we said we would update you on the company results at the end of the summer. During the last three months, June, July and August, AGLOCO lost slightly more than $100,000. (As you are aware the Development team is still working for free. And also, the Development team and some of their friends are the source of the $100,000 so that AGLOCO can pay its bills.) The AGLOCO losses are getting smaller each month and at this point, we anticipate the September loss will be $10,000 to $15,000.

2. Will checks for the AGLOCO Monthly Residual Payments go out in October?

We would love to say definitely yes, but we can’t. So we will say Yes IF. The IF for the most part is how successful our Ask.com partnership is in generating revenue. As with most things in AGLOCO, it will really depend on the Members. It is Member use of the Ask.com search function that will answer the question of distributions in October.

While Ask.com will also become the dominant supplier of our US and Canada ads, we believe that as a global company AGLOCO currently will get the most revenue from the Ask.com search ads.

3. How will I get my money?

First AGLOCO puts money into your account at AGLOCO which you will be able to see on your account page. At present, Members may ask that a check be sent to them. AGLOCO will set up a couple of online payment systems like PayPal and will also set up an ACH system. If there is a cost to make the transfer, the Member will pay it – so that other Members do not have to bear that expense. A minimum for transferring money out will be set.

Since the account pages will not have the financial data available on them for several weeks, we will contact any Member who has earned over $100 to ask if they want a check now. (There are a number of you who get in this group very quickly).

4. Will I be able to sell my hours to other Members?

A number of requests have come from Members wanting to buy or sell hours. Currently AGLOCO does not allow the transfer of hours. AGLOCO is planning to change this and allow for Members to transfer hours. To do so it will be necessary for AGLOCO to suspend any consideration of exchanging hours for AGLOCO shares, otherwise trading hours would not be possible in some countries and would be too difficult (and expensive) for AGLOCO to regulate. We would like Member feedback on this issue prior to implementing it, so please make comments on this post.

AGLOCO will have to add the technical ability to transfer hours to each Member’s account database before the ability to sell will be possible. AGLOCO will probably limit transfers to at least 100 or more hours per transfer so that tracking this does not become a burden. If there is any cost to this, it will be borne by the Member doing the transfer so that all Members do not bear this cost.

5. How much will I be able to sell my hours for?

We anticipate that some Members will set up private exchanges or Members may use existing auction sites like eBay (assuming rules and escrows are met.) Therefore the price of hours will depend on the open market. And thus, the price is liable to fluctuate.

We know this is a lot of information in a small space, please ask any questions you have on this post and we will try to answer them

Julie – You are correct about the payments growing over time. Please note that we set this up to try to reward all the early people as much as we thought possible and yet not break our principal of not paying out more money than we make. We are very hopeful that we can confirm the first months of payments soon and that the first checks can go out in October.

As to when the tech team will have the new account page launched and when the trading of hours database will be ready, I would think a month or two before any of that is operational. So it will not be after then that AGLOCO will be able to accommodate sales of hours. And that is why we will manually send checks the first couple of months to Members with over $100 due them. I take it by your question you think that a positive step for AGLOCO.

AglocoDir – We are currently limited to USD. That is one of the reasons to use $100 as a limit as above that amount people can have exchange done fairly. When we have online payments we will strive to have many different currencies available.

For easy reference, this is Julie's comment...

I want to know if I got this right. For my June hours, Agloco is going to pay me $0.48. I am going to get the money a little every month. And the same is true of July hours and August hours and will be for September hours and October hours.

So if that is right, my monthly income from Agloco will go up every month that I earn more hours, because I am starting with a base from my previous months, right?

One more thing, can you tell me more about when can a sell my hours?

Quick note – we will be doing the distribution post very soon. I had hoped to have it done by the 25th, but in order to give exact distribution amounts for June, July and August hours we needed a couple more days to analyze the hourly data. Hopefully, exact distribution amounts will be worth waiting a couple of extra days for.

This is another AGLOCO update as at 12 September 2007.

Revenue – As we posted previously, we completed a major revenue partnership. AGLOCO is excited to announce that Ask.com will soon become AGLOCO’s official worldwide default search provider.

First, we have been very impressed with Ask.com’s desire to be in business with the AGLOCO Membership. (We feel that business works best when both parties want to work together.) More importantly, we are impressed with Ask.com’s search performance.

According to the August 14, 2007 report, of the University of Michigan’s American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), Ask rates right with Yahoo and Google in customer satisfaction - Ask 75, Yahoo 79 and Google 78. Also, ForeSee Results added that, “Ask has had the biggest increase over time of any e-business company measured by the ACSI, up 21% since it was first measured… Ask.com seems to be well-positioned to rival Google in the coming years because it has a strong search technology lauded by analysts and users alike.” We will be adding Ask to the Viewbar in the next couple of weeks and we hope you enjoy the results as much as we have.

This is a very important step for AGLOCO and will greatly improve of revenue starting in October. Many of us have been using the Ask.com search system this last month and agree with the comment above that it is equal to and sometimes more helpful than Google. I got this email from a lady friend regarding the disgusting behaviour of our own local people toward the tourists. I do not know how true it is but I personally hope that it is not.

LADIES - BEWARE WHEN YOU GO TO THE MALAYSIAN ISLANDS

I stayed in Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian In Terengganu for 2 weeks due to my research and I observed a lot of things done by the local male youngsters to the ladies who visited there.

The VICTIMS were those who came alone or with group of girls only, most of them came with one female friend.
The guys acted as a normal d river of the boat for the resorts but they selected the lone girls mostly the dumb Chinese girls and western ladies.

But if the girls were accompanied by guys, they will not dare to touch.

When they reached the snorkeling area, they will 'HELP' the ladies by holding their hands to snorkel here and there. Most of the Chinese ladies
wear exposed and sexy swim wears and they will peeped at their nipples and underwears from behind.

The worst part was they bring along their local friends to join the club, to get one or two victims everyday. They gathered on jetty eyeing at their prey.

Then, they will guided the girls to plastic containers with fresh water to wash them up, sometime trying to 'help' them by touching their body
parts.
They girls thought they were friendly and helpful but they have other intentions.

After the girls were so busy to wash and clean up, the locals will at that time handed them mineral water (with something inside), the girls are not
aware at the time and drank it. It happened everyday and I watch it everyday. Then suddenly the girl will allow them to hold her hand and
walked to the boats and go away to the resort and finally to the rooms,
with the other local 'friends' following behind 'TO JOIN THE PARTY' !!!

Sometimes they will ask the local or western ladies do they like to have some sun block cream. Then they will apply some on their skin.

Once, to my surprise the lady naked her breast and let them 'played'. Then I knew what they applied was actually the 'Minyak Dagu or Corpse Oil', one type of 'Jampi or Curse Oil' so that you will love them. They kissed her until she was brought to her room.

Please remember Terengganu state, the Black Magic is strong over there.

Remember, I observed these for 2 weeks but cannot stop them, they have many many friends around. If I questioned them, I will be in trouble...over there.

I hope every lady will take precaution on this matter and forward this to everyone. Just let them know that if the drivers are so friendly, they will
take advantage of them, they have to beware. I was so frustrated because the girls are so dumb to have trusted them. I asked one of the victim and she
said she didn't remember anything but she said she have some DREAM that she had sex with the locals. SEE ! ! !

There are insufficient evidence to prosecute them cause they cleverly done their job including dressing up victim nicely to original & don't leave any
traces behind even ejected externally.

And when the victims awakened they were told they had a short nap. Salt water further makes it difficult for them to discover on the spot until perhaps later.

This happened in Pulau Tioman and can happened any other places. Victims include Italian, American Japanese, Chinese, Arabian & even Malays.

Please pass this message on to all the world.

Been reading the blog today - and it seems I have some thoughts on agloco and some of the comments.

BRYAN WARD - agloco does not have to go public for early members to be winners - when agloco starts paying monthly payments for the hours already booked then those hours will have quantifiable value. Brian has said that one thing agloco will do when it starts making payments is pay hours every month. Meaning the hours I owned in June will get paid every month after payments start.

Even if the monthly payment is 1/2 cent a month (something even the skeptics may think is possible) then My Hours from June will have significant value. If an hour will earn me 1/2 cent a month that is 6 cents a year - how much is that worth if I sell the Hour - probably more than 50 cents (even more if the 1/2cent monthly payment looks like it will rise over time.)

Will agloco let me sell the Hours - maybe not now - but they will eventually - It costs them nothing and it will allow those members who want to cash out early to do so.

So you see - things like needing to go public - or needing a huge one time payment are Not Necessary for me to have made good money with my June, July, August and now September hours.

Money is usually made Not Following the Crowds - just ask Warren Buffett. Agloco is doing fine. I am happy to earn Hours with almost no effort at this point. I use the viewbar for searches all the time - it is handy.

I see that new sign ups are good and alexa ratings for agloco are fine. So my advice - be patient - you are expecting a company that launched its product in beta three months ago to make a profit of millions of dollars so you can get $0.50 an hour for doing almost nothing. One - it is not going to happen – And Two - But more importantly - it is not needed for all our work to pay off and pay off well.

Next, I hope payment will be made in a month or two from now (even if there is none, I think I will just wait coz there is nothing to lose). Revenue – We are excited that we have signed one of our major revenue partnerships earlier this week. We will be making the formal announcement later. While anyone can sign up for automatic revenue sharing deals (which we of course did), getting a major company to work with their own internal system to start to take advantage of the Viewbar’s capabilities is very exciting to us. I know for some of you it seems a long time coming (and to us as much as any Member). But the Viewbar has been out less than 90 days. And no responsible company would deal seriously with AGLOCO until the Viewbar was released and stabilized. So we are very please to have cleared all the technical and legal reviews necessary to sign this agreement. It will take our partners tech team 3 to 5 weeks to complete their work, so you should see changes occurring after that time.

Also, thank you to those of you who gave us leads for other potential European and Asian partners. If any of you works in one of those companies please contact us as it makes it easier if someone in the company is an AGLOCO Member to help us.

Tech Update The tech team reported that our move to new servers was completed last week. Early reports are faster downloading for most locations. Well, this email claims that you can help pay for a sick child's medical expenses simply by forwarding the message to others. According to the message, baby Alicia Bosh will receive 10 cents towards the cost of an operation every time you send the email onwards. I bet most of you ever received the same email and you forwarded it to your friends (and your friends forwarded the same to their friends) right!

Upon checking the net for the same information I found out that this is a hoax e-mail. This is the excerpt of the comment made by www.hoax-slayer.com

The message does not give any details about who is supposedly donating the money. Apparently, we are expected to believe that the money will somehow appear by magic every time we hit the "Forward" button. No legitimate company or charitable organization would base a fund raising campaign on how many times a particular email was forwarded. Moreover, there is no reliable or ethical method of tracking such an email, and therefore no way of accurately calculating how much money was to be donated....................At this point, I have no information about the accuracy of the original message or Alicia's current health. I am conducting further research, and will update this article if I unearth more information on the case.

Regardless of Alicia's current situation however, you can rest assured that forwarding this foolish email will do her no good whatsoever.

As Brian mentioned in his recorded interview last week (described below), he is spending more time on the revenue team and will be focusing more on getting money for the community and less on this blog. So to pick up the slack, various members of the AGLOCO Development Team will write some of the posts going forward. Updating the website - We let this slide (too far) as we worked first on the Viewbar and then on revenue. We are currently moving and upgrading the site servers and this should be done in a week. After this is complete the tech team will change the website.

The Table below is my analysis on the said commission structure.

This Table shows that it is true that a person will get RM1,200,780 if the pyramid is perfectly formed. But do you know that in order for you to get that much, you need 797,160 people to join you!

I received a number of emails on this "Get Rich Quick" program. Personally, I think the "you get e-books" is just a gimmick and the late comers will risk losing their so called investment. There is no risk of non payment of commission ??? What a total nonsense. Do not be deceived by this statement. !!!

If everything goes as planned (see table), you will get the maximum RM64,800.00 i.e. RM50 from each person X 1,296 depositers.

Let us see if the above claim hold any water or if it is full of holes. Based on the Malaysian Internet Usage and Telecommunications Report , there are 11,016,000 Internet users as of Sept/2006 in Malaysia. Assuming only 5% of the users participate in this program, you have 550,800 players. Hence, this restricts the number of players that will get the maximum RM64,800.00 to 425 players only! So if you want to make the cut better hurry or risk losing your RM50 so called investment (Note: You will only be paid if you reach the TOP POSITION)

I personally classify this program as a scam because it benefits the Organiser and the early birds only. If you are a late comer you will risk losing your RM50. I received this Chain Letter via email from a friend. It says "Taking Pills with warm water is dangerous". I was skeptical when I read this because I have been taking pills (when sick) with warm water for years and I am still alive.

This is the full text of the chain letter (e-mail)

Taking Pills with Warm Water is Dangerous Most people when they're suffering from flu commonly consume Capsulated tablets with warm water, not knowing whether the pill would safely reach the stomach. This could be serious and perhaps you should consider proper ways of swallowing pills.
Doctors Advice: Pills can be taken singly by using cold water.After swallowing, a person should drink a lot more water. Take your pills 30 minutes before you go to bed, don't go straight to bed immediately after taking pills.
Incident: One day a guy took some antibiotics and for not drinking enough water to flush it straight down to the stomach, the pill was lodged on the food tract and caused an inflammation. For six days he could only take cold milk and water-soluble food and was hospitalized for five days. The Doctor warned that should it get any worse, an ulcer in the intestine may result. So please exercise caution. When taking medicine in pill or capsule form:
DO NOT use warm or hot water/fruit juice/all kinds of sweet drinks to wash down the medicine. The right way is to down it with cold water. If you feel discomfort in the throat after taking a pill, drink lots of water or cold milk. Stand or sit straight when you take your pill and do not lie immediately.

I have not been able to find any source that definitively supports or disputes the claim that taking pills with warm water is dangerous. Projek 2007 Bersama Pos Malaysia!

I did not know that Pos Malaysia has such a project. Well this program claims Pos Malaysia as its affiliate in its marketing strategy (could be that payment is by using “Wang Pos” (Postal Order)). Please check out the website here. The sick thing about the program is that it claims it is designed to eradicate poverty the quick way. What a total bull@#$% !

The person who introduces this program to me even claims that this scheme is very popular in the North States of East Malaysia and very soon in Sabah and Sarawak.

So what is special about this program? With a one time payment of RM40 via “Wang Pos” you will receive “Sumbangan Ikhlas” (contribution) up to RM 109,220.00. Wow! That is a big amount of money.

I just hope that nobody buys this idea as it is a pyramid scheme which is illegal. Furthermore, it does not guarantee that you will receive that much. What if your friends do not buy this idea? You will suffer loss of RM40.

The way this sick people introduce this program is so unethical. See the table below. I hope the public will not support this program as it is illogical and a total scam!

Of late, I notice that this type of program is sprouting like mushrooms. Yesterday in the Daily Express, I saw an advertisement that is quite similar to this program. You pay RM97 for a Trading Secrets but the gist of this program is actually more on the referral commissions.

Land Investment in the UK. Is it for real?

Have you ever been approached by someone to buy a piece of land in the UK? Well, ..... I have.

This is my story.....the cheapest plot was about RM60,000.00 BUT the return on investment in 5 to 7 years would be a whopping 400% (as explained by the Sales Executive). Sounds like a HYIP right?

This is how it works; the company will buy a large piece of undeveloped land that it believes has good potential for development and divide it into many smaller plots. It will then sell these smaller plots to individuals. In the meantime the company will submit its planning to the local authority to convert the land into residential / other commercial land. It will then assist to sell the plots to a developer at a very high price.

I wonder if one can get a 400% return on investment (which is so very good) why the government do not let its own people to enjoy that profit? Why sell it to outsiders? Is the return on land investment for real? Honestly I felt tempted to own a plot with the hope of making 400% return in 5 - 7 years time but again I was scared to end up as loser. What if the land price declines or the price incremental is lower than expected?

The operators of these schemes offer to handle the planning permission application process for the plot-owners. They claim that once owners are granted planning permission they can sell the whole site to a developer for a substantial profit.

The risk

Although the FSA does not regulate land as a 'specified investment,' there is a risk that many of these schemes are in breach of the financial regulation regime if they are structured as a 'collective investment scheme'. To operate and promote such a scheme legally the operators of the scheme would need to request and obtain authorisation from the FSA which would then regulate these firms. Generally these Landbanking schemes are not authorised by the FSA.

Update on Revenue and Cash Payouts

The Viewbar has been out for just about three weeks at this point. We are crossing 20% activation and hope to exceed 50% by the end of the summer. New verified Member signups are back near record levels and growing.

As I mentioned in my last post, stabilizing the Viewbar, the website, and the ad rotation has been our first priority. While it took more time and more money than we had planned, the Viewbar is performing well (ad rotation aside). It has been seamlessly upgraded on Member computers a couple of times and the percentage of Members with Viewbar problems is low. In stabilizing the website, among the steps we took was adding an alternate Viewbar download site (tucows.com). Now that we are more comfortable with the website stability, we will also begin updating the website more frequently again.

As far as the ads go, I am pleased to announce that we have just reached an agreement to make major improvements toward increased Viewbar revenue. As noted earlier, we launched the Viewbar and our ad volume swamped the ad server of our third party supplier. While it has improved, the current system is still not working up to the standards needed (weak rotation ability and unable to connect properly with several networks). Given that the current state of affairs makes it difficult to implement our search, profile and geographic targeting (which are necessary to make Viewbar ads effective), we sought a new arrangement which will give all that to AGLOCO. This will take 5 to 6 weeks to be activated. As a result, revenue for the months of June and July will be low, as the current system cannot be improved any faster.

We will also have the ability for an AGLOCO online ad auction system like Google’s AdSense so advertisers will be able to buy Viewbar ads directly.

As a global community, AGLOCO Members live all over the world. To maximize Member income, we will need to address that with our advertisers (as well as with our Members). Our new ad system will have a country specific system for advertisers (we are told that this will be available at the end of the summer and not for all countries). At that point we will likely have to ask each Member for a language preference to make the advertisers aware. Keep in mind that it is very costly to support multiple languages (it’s easy to just display them, but language support includes full Member support, email communication, etc., in that language), so additional supported languages will probably not be forthcoming before that.

In order to reach profitability quickly (which is necessary to make cash distributions to Members - as I will detail below), we keep AGLOCO expenses to a minimum. Many of you make great suggestions for improvements we could make to AGLOCO, but unfortunately they are not yet in our affordable budget. We have tried to implement the less costly improvements while recognizing that the major changes will have to wait longer. We do hear all of your suggestions, but AGLOCO needs to become sustainable and make Member distributions as fast as possible. To keep expenses low, for example, in the year or so we have been working on AGLOCO, no development team member has been paid for their work (not to mention that some of you have been working very hard to help build AGLOCO as well and have not yet received the rewards of that work either). And with that we are turning our attention to revenue (and distributions to members).

Members often ask when they will be paid by AGLOCO, and how much they will be paid. I must admit that I have a bit of hesitation to address this issue, only because I do not want Members to misunderstand anything I say and/or take it as a “promise or prediction” of what AGLOCO will exactly do in the future. So, I will write the following with the disclaimer that everything I say below, specifically regarding when Members will be paid or how much, is only an illustration and does not constitute a promise of any sort. Capiche? Capiche.

Here is some information about cash payments in “FAQ” form.

When are the cash payouts going to begin?

The simple answer is that it depends on “when AGLOCO makes enough money to both pay Members and be a sustainable business”. But, by using the Viewbar you are accumulating credit towards the cash payments right now (more on that below). I have spoken about this on the blog twice before:

Also, as some Members have correctly pointed out, AGLOCO’s early revenue will not immediately translate into cash distributions to Members. While we do not know how large our initial revenue will be, we do know that AGLOCO has operating costs to pay. It is important to remember that AGLOCO is not a “get rich quick scheme”, and we maintain that the most prudent way to build AGLOCO as a sustainable company is to calibrate Member distributions to company earnings. How are you going to pay me if you don’t have any of my payment information?

Before the cash payments begin we will verify your billing information and ask you to specify how you would like to be paid. We currently plan to have several forms of payment available, including check, direct deposit, and PayPal. Remember that only one account per Member is allowed.

Is there going to be a “minimum” payout level achieved in my account like many affiliate programs have?

Yes, a minimum will be required to keep transfer costs down. All sums not distributed are accumulated in the Member’s AGLOCO account until the minimum is reached.

How are the cash payments going to work?

So, here are three of the potential ways AGLOCO can pay Members. As you know, when you use the Viewbar you accumulate hours (currently up to 5 hours/month, and plus a credit of referral hours at a 25% rate). These hours, both your monthly totals and your overall accumulated hours, are the basis for cash distributions.

Monthy Viewbar hours: Based on the hours you and your referrals surf each month, you will get a share of the “distribution pie”. Your share is equal to your percentage of the total hours accumulated by all Members (including referral hours). How would this work? Here is a hypothetical example. Suppose in a given month AGLOCO distributes $100,000 for that month’s hour accumulation. Also suppose that the total hours all Members have accumulated that month is 1,000,000 hours. This means that AGLOCO would pay $0.10 for each hour you are credited with that month. So in this example if you had accumulated (yourself plus referrals) 500 hours that month, you would be paid $50.

Total Viewbar hours: AGLOCO may also pay in the same manner as above based on total accumulated hours. This would “weight” the payment more towards those Members who joined and began accumulating hours earlier (including the time before the cash payouts have begun).

AGLOCO buying Hours for Cash: Here’s how it would work. AGLOCO would set a price per hour (say, $0.15), and we allow Members to sell their hours back to us at that rate. There would likely be a minimum number of hours you could sell. For instance, AGLOCO may only allow you to sell in 100-hour blocks. Hours that you sell would be deducted from your total accumulated hours for future distributions.

I realize that I have not given a concrete answer to “what an hour is worth”, “what a referral is worth”, or “the date you will be paid”. I wish I could. But, I maintain that to keep AGLOCO a sustainable venture, we must calibrate cash payouts to our actual positive cash flow, lest we suffer the same fate as AllAdvantage.

Ken Kuester made a great comment reflecting this a few weeks ago. He said:

For all of you that are asking for calculations for how much pay, just consider this. There is truly no way anyone can calculate with all variables. The pay is dependent upon the advertisers paying agloco, the search engines paying agloco, the merchants paying agloco the commissions on the sales to agloco members, and any other sources of income. This money all goes into a pool, of which agloco management gets 10% and the rest is divided among the owners/members. There you have it. income is variable, percentages for management and the owners ia fixed. membership is variable. These variable parts will change by the minute. All the mathmatician can do at this point is offer statistical possibilities. In the short view, every person you sponsor now cuts down on the value of the cash pool individually. In the longer term, more members means agloco can charge more for the ads and make the cash pool larger. As far as clicking the ads, That will create cash pool money when the few make purchases and the merchant pays agloco the commission on the sale. In at least some cases, the member will immediately benefit from any discounts that are given to the agloco membership. Regards searches, I do not know what deal agloco has with google or the other search engines at this time, but I do know that as the membership goes up, so does the price google and the others will pay agloco for each search performed. Google currently pays aol 10 cents per search performed. Best I can tell you is the per hour pay will fall into a range somewhere between .00001 cents and 1,000.00 dollars per hour.( both top and bottom values estimated with the fact that everyone is so desparate for promises that poor Brian cannot say anything without it being considered a set in concrete promise.) Our website talks about paying Members in “cash and shares”. As I’ve said before, I need to stay away from talking about “shares” in this blog. The lawyers would kill me if I went anywhere near talking about it because it is too easy to unwittingly violate a country’s securities laws.

1. USD960,799 divide by USD7 (assuming the webmaster/mastermind/syndicate do not ask for a single cent), you get 137,257 people.
In other words, for you to make that much you need 137,257 people to pay you USD7 each.
2. Since the website is in Bahasa Malaysia, I presumed this scheme is meant for Malaysian. Thus there is a population limit factor here. Assuming that there are 27.0 Million people in Malaysia. 27,000,000 divide by 137,257, you get 197. Meaning, only 197 people will get the chance to make that much!

Don't you think this is a pyramid scheme; your downlines (or your downlines' downlines) pay you.

My personal view is, this program is a scam in the making. Do not fall for it! Save your precious USD7 (RM24). There is no way you can make that much with just USD7!

Hi AGLOCO members and members to be :) This is the latest update from the AGLOCO Official after the last update on the same topic - Walk Before Running.

(6/13 9:31PM PDT) Update: We just initiated the auto-upgrade for the Viewbar software to v1.03. This has fixes to many of the stability bugs some Members have experienced. If you previously experienced problems with your Viewbar, try running it again now with this updated version and it should work.

Our stats tell us that most currently active Viewbars seem to have been updated just fine by now. If you get a message telling you that your Viewbar has expired, restart the Viewbar and it should initiate the automatic upgrade. If that still doesn’t work, right-click the AGLOCO icon in the Windows task bar (a green “o”) and select “options”. Then click the button to “check for updates” in the “General” tab.

For this update we made some changes that require we simultaneously invalidate the old Viewbar version for stability reasons, but most future auto-updates will occur seamlessly.

Now that AGLOCO has launched the Viewbar (we released it on June 4th so we are 8 days “old”), we should start to make steady progress. Here’s a big picture view of where we’re going over the next few months. I see things in three major phases, with some overlap between them.

The first order of business is to get the Viewbar (and our website) stable – with rotating ads.

* Viewbar Stability: We will be releasing an updated version of the Viewbar software within a week that will take care of some of the remaining ‘bugs’, and we will continue to stabilize the software. If you already have the Viewbar, you do not need to do anything to get this new version, as your Viewbar should automatically self-update with it. For the most part it seems these remaining ‘bugs’ appear minor and only affect a very limited number of members. This is good. This means we can put our primary emphasis on the next phase of the Viewbar while leaving a small team to work on the minor bugs.
* Website Stability: We will be making the Viewbar software available on one trusted alternate download site (we are picking it now and it will be all set up before we send a Viewbar download “reminder” email to the Membership). This should help our servers balance the website traffic with the stress of the download process. We will continue to make adjustments and improvements to our servers in order to improve performance for those browsing (so there are no disruptions to the sign-up process for new Members in the future).
* Ad rotation: We are working with the ad server people to optimize this process. The way they initially rotated the ads was crashing their servers with all the Viewbars asking for ads, so they have needed to improvise. Now it seems that some Members are getting rotating ads and others aren’t, depending on browser settings and computer environment. They are working on solutions so their ads show up on all Viewbars, regardless of computer environment or settings. I do not know how long this will take, but we have seen a steady improvement in the number of users who get rotating ads, so it seems progress is being made.

The next phase for AGLOCO is the maximizing of Viewbar revenue. This is an important goal, as we have fairly fixed costs so the more revenue we generate (especially more revenue per Viewbar), the more each Member will receive. There are lots of steps that will need to be taken in the coming months to improve AGLOCO’s revenue including:

1. Improving our search and ad revenue sources and sharing agreements. As more Members use the Viewbar, our bargaining power grows.
2. Start the Viewbar targeting system. One part of this system will focus ads based on your searches and surfing. Another part of this system will focus ads based on where you live (of course, AGLOCO will need to have a contract with ad networks in each of these countries to provide local ads in local countries).
3. Better inform Members of the revenue generating opportunities on the Viewbar.
4. Continue to work with existing Members who have not yet activated their Viewbars. We expect that after the initial spike of downloads this process will be one of gradual adoption. New Members signing up will have access to the Viewbar right away.
5. Continue to make improvements to encourage continued viral growth of the AGLOCO Membership. This includes website improvements, increased Viewbar functionality, and an opt-in Member-to-Member communication system.

Maximizing revenue is extremely important to AGLOCO, since cash distributions will come from AGLOCO’s positive earnings (revenue exceeding expenses). There is some information available on the AGLOCO website and in previous posts to this blog, but I will talk more about this important stage of AGLOCO’s future in my next post. I won’t be giving exact payment dates nor a fixed hourly rate prediction (as AGLOCO cannot predict future revenues per Member), but I will talk more about how the distributions will work.

AGLOCO Viewbar download update

Notification Emails - From the last blog post:

Please note ALL Members will be sent an email inviting them to download. Also, we will send additional emails to those who have not logged any time on the Viewbar servers, reminiding them to download their Viewbar (this will happen after the initial “rush” has passed).

At this point we have sent emails to a little over 1/3 of the Members – this does not mean they all read them as some bounce and some still get put into junk mail (for instance if the Member has not yet made agloco a ‘safe’ sender on their email filters). As I mentioned before, in a week or so we will send out a reminder to those who have not yet logged in their Viewbar.

Website - The engineers rebalanced all the servers again and the site should be more responsive (although with all the initial Viewbar downloads coming through the account page and people now checking hours it tends to clog it up).

Please note that right now we are giving almost instantaneous hour calculations on the account page. We will be changing this to daily updates (as it says on the account page) in a few days. We wanted to start with instantaneous so that early users would see that it is working, but when more and more people start checking hours it would overload our database server so we will go to daily (this impacts the back-end database load but doesn’t impact the website performance).

A point of clarification: Referral hours are calculated to the person who referred them at a 25% rate (so if one of your referrals surfs for 5 hours this will show up in your account as 1.25 hours). This is the current rate posted on the website.

Ads - As I wrote yesterday in an update to the last blog post:

Your Viewbar should now say “Ads to appear here shortly, Click for Viewbar FAQ”, though at times the ad server people might “play” with the ads as they fix their servers (I know a Jewelry ad was up for awhile yesterday). If it does not say that or have an ad up, quit the Viewbar (right click on the green O in the windows task bar and then click on quit). Then using your start menu relaunch a new Viewbar (the AGLOCO Viewbar should be a choice in your start menu after download). This should relaunch your connection to your severs.

As mentioned before, the ad rotation has been down for about 30 hours at this point. Your Viewbar is working fine - it is the ad serving people whose servers went down with the load. I do not have an update from them on their timing to correct the issue. They do not work for AGLOCO (actually they pay us to show ads), so we are encouraging them to work as fast as they can to fix it.

I will update you all on the ad server when I can – but in all likelihood you will see the ads rotating before I can post about it on this blog.

I do not currently have an estimate as to when the ads will go live again. Your Viewbar is working perfectly in this regard and is currently pinging the ad server for a new ad every 30 seconds (they just put up the “Ads to appear here shortly, Click for Viewbar FAQ” message while they work on the rotation issue).

Finally, we sincerely appreciate any bug reports we may not already be aware of or usage questions you may have. Please send them to both help@agloco.com and bgreenwald@agloco.com so we can attend to the issues (and clarify the questions, perhaps on the FAQ page) as quickly as possible. If you are reporting a bug, please be as detailed as possible in explaining what was going on when the error occurred, including your operating system, browser version, and any other relevant information. Thanks!

Wow! I thought this must be something but when I clicked on the link...guess what! it was just another "I get money from my downline" thing. You have to put in $997 and pray that someone sign up under you and donate you money! Finally, I managed to have the viewbar on my PC.
If you have not downloaded the viewbar please check your email or login to your AGLOCO account and look for the "Download Viewbar" button just after the "AGLOCO Table" (that's what I called it!).

As you may notice my referrals network now stands at 557; 76 Direct and 481 Extended. With the release of the viewbar, I hope to reach 1000 referrals by year end.

After you have successfully downloaded the AGLOCO viewbar you may login to your AGLOCO Viewbar. The picture on the left is the actual picture of the AGLOCO Viewbar Sign in Page that I have just downloaded.

I also notice that once you are logged in, the time spent is being reflected in the the "AGLOCO Table" (under "Hours this month" column).

Viewbar release this Monday (Tuesday in Asia)

Sorry to be so long between posts. There was no meaningful news to give you until today.

We have made a workaround regarding the ad server problem and we will finally be launching the Viewbar. Some, but not all, of our ad networks will be connected. These networks have enough ads on them, so we are comfortable releasing the software as we continue to work on the outstanding issues that remain with the other networks. All of the preliminary Viewbar functions are there, but with the ad problems we will not be initially launching with the personalized ad targeting. We will continue to develop this capability after we have launched and when it is available the new version of the software will be incorporated into your viewbar automatically.

Remember that this is the first version of the Viewbar (v1.0), and with the Viewbar being automatically self-updating software, gradual improvement (both aesthetically and functionally) will appear seamlessly (you also have an option to turn off this feature and ask for updates manually, though we recommend leaving the auto-updating feature active so that you always have the latest software as improvements are made).

This weekend the Viewbar download is being moved from the test servers to the main servers. We will NOT need to temporarily take down the web site as we had thought, so we will not be sending out an email warning on that. If the transfer goes smoothly, the first download emails will be going out Monday morning California time (early Tuesday in Asia).

Please remember:

If you have a Norton firewall you may be asked to allow access to “viewbar.exe” and “update.exe” (please check “Permit Access Always” for proper installation of the Viewbar).

The Viewbar is currently available for Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista and will work with IE (Internet Explorer) or Firefox browsers.

I’m sure you are all just as ready for the Viewbar release as we are!

This is another way to make fast bucks the lazy way. Please do not fall for it. There is no way you can earn $1,000 just by investing $1! Please have pity to those who join after you. They may believe they can really make $1,000 with $1 :)

Today I received an email from an unknown person. It is another way to get rich the lazy way :) You only need to "invest" RM10 and distribute RM2 to each of the 5 persons on the list given to you. The sender claims that if you follow the steps you will receive RM1,627,230.00 in your bank account.

I personally think that this idea is ridiculous. In order to receive RM1,627,230.00 you need to get 813,615 "investors" to pay you (RM1,627,230.00 divide by RM2 per person). The latest figure from the Malaysia Population Check shows that the current population stands at 27,109,388. How does a person expect to earn that much in a very short time considering that there is a population limit factor involved. To me it is just a way to dupe people to part with their money.

The AGLOCO Viewbar is real

Another Viewbar update; NOT from the AGLOCO Official but from John Chow the Dot Com Mogul

The AGLOCO Viewbar - It Really Does Exist

The AGLOCO Viewbar is real and it does exist. I know because I’m using it right now. Akshay Mavani sent me a beta Viewbar to try out and give my impressions.

The Viewbar software is a 1.8 MB download. When installed, it takes up 5 MB of space. The Viewbar is not any bigger than the Windows task bar. The version I am running shows ads by Google and Google is the default search engine. The ads are not targeted at the moment because it hits only one ad server. The rest of the ad servers have not been connected.

Besides allowing us to make money while surfing the Internet, the Viewbar does offer some useful tools. It has a nice Google search box and keeps tracks of all your favorites from Internet Explore and FireFox. There is also a quick link to the Windows calculator and calendar. I’m sure more features will be added in later versions.

From what I can tell from playing around with it, the Viewbar looks ready to go. The main sticking point is the integration with the ad servers. Once that problem is solved, everyone will be able to download it.

Valerie and others – thanks for your questions about how the Viewbar works. Here is some explanation (specific to answering Valerie’s questions).

Turning the Viewbar on/off: Currently, the Viewbar starts when you start your computer (you will be asked to login). It can also be launched from the Windows task trey by right clicking on the AGLOCO icon (a green O), and then signing in. You can turn it off by clicking on the triangle on the far right on the Viewbar (which will minimize it and stop all its functions) or by right clicking on the AGLOCO icon in the Windows task tray and selecting to either 1) Hide the Viewbar, 2) Sign out, or 3) Quit the program, which takes the AGLOCO icon out of the task tray and shuts it down completely.

Multiple Users on One Viewbar: To change from one Member to another, right click on the AGLOCO icon in the Windows task tray and select “sign out”. Then, sign back in with a different Member ID# and password.

AGLOCO Logo: The “accrual indicator” light on the Viewbar is built into the AGLOCO logo at the far left of the Viewbar – it is in the last “O” of “AGLOCO”. It is green when you are currently accumulating hours, and red when you are not. Right clicking on the agloco logo brings up a menu with lots of options (like color, docking at the top or bottom of your screen, accessing your account page on the AGLOCO website, etc.).

The other features you see include space for a text ad, a search field with several engines and a search button, and a tools button (currently simple with website favorites and some basic tools, but this feature will grow with time).

Viewbar quality tests are still going on. As I mentioned in the comment area of my previous post, all tests of the Viewbar have passed except for the ad servers. We had expected our testing to be finished by now, but this advertising integration is not proving easy to solve. All of us on the development team are anxious to see the Viewbar distributed to our Members, as we are now two months behind our initially planned launch date. Still, with only one technical hurdle between us and the release, I’m really getting excited for the upcoming launch (and I can see other Members are getting excited too!).

For those of you who did not read my prior comment, here it is again:

It has my favorite links as well as tools (calculator and calendar). I was told these tools are just there to show Members that the Viewbar will be a source of functionality (they will get more handy as improvements are made to the Viewbar). I sometimes use the favorite links menu, generally when I do not already have a browser up on my screen.

Since the release of this to Members is the most important topic at AGLOCO right now, here is the update on that:

All the final Viewbar ‘fixes’ are being implemented today and will be tested all through tomorrow. If they work correctly we should be able to move the download process to the AGLOCO site and your account page. If not, we’re going to fix whatever issues remain as quickly as possible - we won’t release a product that doesn’t work. I will give an update on this again tomorrow.

Also, we are aware of the website not always being available on a worldwide basis. We have been preparing to integrate the Viewbar download with the AGLOCO website. This has caused a balancing problem which our Savvis engineers have been working on for the last two weeks.

Again, your overall patience on the Viewbar release is appreciated. I’ll continue to keep you posted as I hear updates from our Shanghai tech team.

Since the release of this to Members is the most important topic at AGLOCO right now, here is the update on that:

All the final Viewbar ‘fixes’ are being implemented today and will be tested all through tomorrow. If they work correctly we should be able to move the download process to the AGLOCO site and your account page. If not, we’re going to fix whatever issues remain as quickly as possible - we won’t release a product that doesn’t work. I will give an update on this again tomorrow.

Also, we are aware of the website not always being available on a worldwide basis. We have been preparing to integrate the Viewbar download with the AGLOCO website. This has caused a balancing problem which our Savvis engineers have been working on for the last two weeks.

I am currently working with an AGLOCO Viewbar on my screen. As several of you have asked questions about it, here are a couple of quick comments:

- It is very similar to the Viewbar that is pictured on the AGLOCO website
- I have tested the Viewbar features (search, favorites, options, install, uninstall, minimize, etc.) and it is working smoothly on my machine
- There will be a major test of the ad servers tomorrow to see if all the known bugs have been corrected

All Members should have received an update email (I have copied it at the bottom of this post). If you are a Member and did not get an email over the weekend you need to correct this, as it is the only way to get the Viewbar notice with downloading instructions. If you did not get it, try going into your account to make sure we have a current email address on file (if it is correct and you still did not get an email, check your junk/spam folders).

The next email you should receive on this subject will be one that mentions that our servers will be down for a few hours while we load the Viewbar onto the system. After that outage, we will be sending an email inviting the earliest Members (about 50,000) to download the Viewbar and another 50,000 each day thereafter for the next two weeks.

I have noticed that there are a lot of comments to this blog lately and I’d like to repeat something I’ve said in those comments:

I’ve read all of your comments, and I think the “community leaders” are doing a good job moderating this discussion. Kudos and thanks for stepping up. This is exactly what we’d hoped for, and it’s very encouraging to see our community begin to take shape like this. After the Viewbar is released and we begin work on features for better Member-to-Member communication, there will be more “official” channels for the community to interact outside this blog.

From the beginning, we’ve wanted to make AGLOCO a Member-centered community. And in many ways that has happened, as there are over 3,500,000 pages all over the Internet (according to Google) talking about AGLOCO. We are very pleased to see some members “stepping up” and providing leadership and insight. These are the beginnings of a great community, one that will get even better once we launch this week.

AGLOCO Viewbar Update

I just received an e-mail from the AGLOCO Official today. This is the latest update on the Viewbar. To all AGLOCO members please keep yourself updated and do inform your downline (those you know).

We will be releasing the AGLOCO Viewbar software soon and want to update Members on how things will work when it is released.

Each Member will get an email informing them that their Viewbar is available. It will contain detailed instructions on the download, which will be done from the agloco.com website. Members will be invited to download in groups of 50,000 a day for a two week period, with Members contacted in the order in which they signed up.

Shortly before the first set of download emails go out, you will receive an email notice that the AGLOCO website will be ‘out of service’ for a few hours – this is necessary for us to move the Viewbar download system from the test server to the main servers.

Also, please be aware of the following:

1. AGLOCO Hours: You will accrue hours in your AGLOCO Member account (current maximum is five direct hours a month). Hours are earned during active surfing on the Internet. The Viewbar has a green light on it that notifies the Member when it is accruing time. Your referrals’ surfing will accumulate hours for you at a 25% rate, meaning if one of your referrals surfs for the maximum five hours you will get 1.25 (0.25 x 5) hours credited to your total referral hours. You can only get credit referral hours up to the amount you directly surf (meaning if you surf 3 hours but a referral surfs 4, you will only get credit for the first 3 of your referral’s 4 hours). AGLOCO accrues these hours each month and also has a cumulative total of all hours earned. These hours are what AGLOCO will use to calculate cash and other distributions. The Viewbar contains a one click inactive button which turns it off and removes it from your screen at any time.

2. Initial Release for Windows: The initial Viewbar release will be for Windows Vista, XP, 2000 Pro and 2000 Server. Later, we will release Mac and Linux versions of the Viewbar. Until that occurs, Mac/Linux users can still log onto any supported Windows computer and accumulate their five hours. The Viewbar works with browsers IE 5.5 or higher and Firefox 1.5 or higher.

3. Cash Distributions: To be a sustainable entity in the long term, AGLOCO makes Member cash distributions from its positive cash flow (revenue minus costs). Therefore, please do not expect a check after the first couple of months as it will take time to collect revenue from advertisers and this revenue must exceed costs in order to make cash distributions to Members. We will be keeping Members informed of our financials and you can visit the Official company blog at http://blog.agloco.com for the latest updates.

4. Multiple Users on One Viewbar: As stated previously, multiple Members may use the same Viewbar on the same computer. Only one Viewbar download will be necessary as the Viewbar software will enable each Member to log in and log out using their AGLOCO Member ID# and password (obviously, only one Member ID# can be accumulating Viewbar hours at any one time). Please note, only one Viewbar is allowed on a screen at a time.

5. One-Time Download: The v1.0 Viewbar is purposely simplistic and minimalist, but it also comes equipped with an automatic self-updating feature. Once you download the Viewbar for the first time, your Viewbar will be seamlessly updated with new additions and features as they become available. These future features include the direct cash back feature when a Member purchases items on sponsor site and a portion of the purchase price is added back to the Member’s AGLOCO account (as described on the Official AGLOCO Blog at http://blog.agloco.com/index.php/post35/ . )

Before I talk about Apple, let me give you today’s Viewbar update. As mentioned previously, our delaying item is getting our partners’ ad servers to ‘talk’ correctly to the Viewbar. It requires programming on both their servers and our Viewbar to integrate correctly - not as simple as just signing up for Google AdSense :) . After that is solved the Viewbar download area will need to be transferred from our test servers to our main site to handle the volume, where we will test it again (when this occurs our main site will be down, but we will give a warning before that occurs). Until the ‘glitches’ in the ad server integration are solved I cannot give a more accurate release date than “days away”.

Here’s the scoop from the ground level. I spoke briefly with our tech lead and he confirmed (as we all suspected) that the viewbar will not be released this Monday. However, we are on track for release this month. They are still working on QA for integration with our ad networks (naturally, it is important that the Viewbar generate revenue, so this is a key component of the software). Also, once the software is complete, they will need to move the it to the location we have set up for a large number of simultaneous downloads and prepare for a user-friendly Viewbar download process.

I will continue to assess the team’s progress throughout today (Monday) and write a new post in the next 24 hours or so with the best information I have regarding status and timing.

Just a quick comment on a couple of thoughts.

First, we are having another record week for new Member signups. It is truly great to see the efforts of the early AGLOCO pioneers who got this started as well as the efforts of the many newly recruiting Members building a constantly increasing “snowball” of new Member sigups.

Referral Issues – There have been two issues brought up here recently, and both are actually old issues. One was about the verification email referral link not being complete and the other was about the verification email link resulting in an error message. First let me say that in both cases the referral is correctly in the system and when the new Member does verify their email address that person will be recorded correctly to the person who made the referral. As to the ‘broken’ link, David North is correct that some email providers have different ways of reading emails. In order to reduce the spam filters and blocking of verification emails a couple of months ago we put all verification emails in plain text form. This works well on gmail and hotmail, but not all mail services – I will see if we can add some more language in the verification email to help people who get this problem. The second ‘issue’, an error message, is the result of trying to sign someone up on a computer that is currently logged into another AGLOCO Member account. This happens very rarely and is usually solved by simply logging out and then clicking on the verification email link.

Regarding Member cash payouts – I made the comment about this in my post as I saw several Members promoting instant cash and get rich quick language. While we look forward to making cash payments, AGLOCO has consistently stated that cash payments would be from AGLOCO’s positive cash. One of the biggest mistakes that AllAdvantage made was to promise a fixed hourly payout for browsing. They failed because they were paying out more money than they were bringing in and so they ran out of money very quickly. AGLOCO needs to be a sustainable business to make it worth anything for its Members. Building a sustainable company involves three primary things. First, building and maintaining significant revenue sources; second, keeping operating costs low (including salaries – AGLOCO Management has not yet been paid any salary); and third, paying Members the net cash flow. The hours you earn from the moment you first start using the Viewbar will count towards your cash payments. As I mention in the post:

“Members will begin to accumulate hours from when they first start using the Viewbar (and referral hours will also be earned). Those hours will not be wasted. Both overall hours and monthly hours will be used in determining distributions to Members.”

Believe me, I wish I could offer more concrete details on when Members will be paid and how much. It would make things much simpler. But, the truth we have stated all along is that it simply depends on how well AGLOCO performs and how soon. And, your willingness to both manage and impact this uncertainty alongside AGLOCO Managment (such as through your referrals and Viewbar use) is precisely what makes you a founder. While I completely sympathize with the desire to get cash payouts immediately, some of you are essentially asking me to make promises our balance sheet can’t keep, and I’m not going to do that. Again, this pressure is exactly what seductively led AllAdvantage down the disastrous road it followed.

Information and transparency – To answer some specific questions: Yes, we will be disclosing AGLOCO’s financials, and we will do this as soon as we have income for a couple of months so we can show meaningful numbers. No, we will not be disclosing details of deals with advertisers, etc. (it could stop some companies from doing business with AGLOCO if we gave away too many details). We will not be posting lists of every advertiser – nor does Yahoo, Google or CBS for that matter. As those of you who are in business know, there will be times when, even though we have an answer to a question, we will need to stay quiet during negotiations (and we have several items like that right now).

Waiting for the Viewbar

I have just got word from our Shanghai based tech team with an update on the Viewbar status. Most of the QA tests are going well with the exception of the ad servers. The team is currently integrating the Viewbar with the ad servers so that the Viewbar will have ads (and revenue) ready to go when it launches (it would not make too much sense to release a Viewbar that was not making any money). So, while the Viewbar is still on track for release this month, making the April 2nd to 16th window is getting more difficult – and, yes, the Shanghai team has been working seven days a week for quite a while now and will continue to do so until the Viewbar is released.

Fuyoh! The Viewbar is coming to town

The latest update from the Agloco Official.....the viewbar will be released this month in stages. The early starters of 50,00 members will get the privilege of downloading the viewbar. Multiple users may use the same viewbar on the same computer(same IP address).

April is upon us, and as we have mentioned previously on this blog, the Viewbar is slated for release this month. We will be sending an email directly to each Member when their account is authorized for Viewbar download with more detailed information regarding the software release. Here are a few initial details:

The Download Process: As we have discussed, we will be releasing the Viewbar first to Members who joined first. Currently, the plan is to have the Viewbar first be available to Members with ID#s beginning in BBBB to BBBF (as well as Members with an ID# beginning in “AGLO”). This is about 50,000 Members. We will then continue releasing the Viewbar to more and more Members in the order in which they signed up (again, all Members will be notified by email when their account is authorized for Viewbar download).

Multiple Users on One Viewbar: As stated previously, multiple Members may use the same Viewbar on the same computer. Only one Viewbar download will be necessary as the Viewbar software will enable each Member to log in and log out using their AGLOCO Member ID# and password (obviously, only one Member ID# can be accumulating Viewbar hours at any one time).

Initial Launch for Windows: The initial Viewbar release will be for Windows Vista, XP, and 2000. Later, we will release Mac and Linux versions of the Viewbar. Until that occurs, Mac/Linux users can still log onto any supported Windows computer and accumulate their five hours. Hopefully, five hours a month (about 10 minutes a day on average) on a Windows-based computer can be manageable until the Mac version can be released.

Seamless Updates: The v1.0 Viewbar is purposely simplistic and minimalist, but it also comes equipped with an automatic self-updating feature. Once you download the Viewbar for the first time, your Viewbar will be seamlessly updated with new additions and features as they become available.

Revenue and Ad Deals: As a member of the revenue team, I am happy to report that we now have agreements with 17 ad networks. These agreements plus some direct advertising deals provide AGLOCO with thousands of advertisers with thousands of ads for the Viewbar software.

Also, AGLOCO had a record day of new Member signups yesterday – just wanted to thank all for you who have been supporting AGLOCO with your continued recruiting efforts.

AGLOCO Viewbar release update

Another great news from the Agloco Official blog! The Agloco Official announced the release date is currently scheduled for between 2 April and 16 April 2007. This is the Fourth Update for March and it shows how serious Agloco Official is in improving communication with members (well I read in the comments sections that some members are complaining with regards to lack of communication from Agloco Official).

As at today my total referrals stands at 273; 69 Direct Referrals and 204 Extended Referrals. Some people may say; 273! What is there to shout about? Look at those people in the Agloco Top Gun list. They are so successful than you are! You do not have to tell people that your total referral is this and that! (mind your own business…this is my blog).

The increase represents an increase of more than 30 % from a week ago. I wish to thank all my referrals for their hard work in getting more people to sign up. Keep up the good work! In the initial stage I set a modest target of 100 referrals before the Viewbar release but looking at the current pace of people signing ups I believe I can achieve 300 total referrals by 31 March 2007. If you want to help me with my network you are most welcome. Just look for the referral link in this blog 

I have approached a few of my friends who were into internet investments (HYIPs) but they were not interested. Guess what the common response is; With HYIPs I can earn profit everyday BUT with Agloco I do not know when I can see the money! Wake up people! Do you realize that your daily earning from your so called internet investments that pay 1.8% to 3.3% daily is from your OWN money! Well I am not condemning you people in investing into HYIPs (cos it is your money after all) but do remember that with Agloco you have nothing to lose. Why? Because you do not have to invest a single cent into it! And, after all you are internet users (well you do check your emails right! you do internet banking, you blog, you search for information, photos etc.).

Another question I normally received is “How much will I get every month?” Well at this moment there is no official statement from the Agloco Official but I believe the rate per hour is lower than 50 cent (but believe me the rate will surely go up in the future!). It is dependent on the number of Agloco members. That is to say the more members the more revenue (be it advertisement or other sources) Agloco will get. The online advertisement revenue is exactly the same as advertisement in your local daily newspaper. The advertisement fee / rate for a newspaper with a wider circulation is expensive than a not so popular newspaper. The same applies to Agloco, more members (Viewbar users), more revenue to Agloco and more earning distribution to members. Those with more referrals in his/her network will get more share of the cake! Simple.

The latest update from the Agloco Official blog states that the AGLOCO Viewbar is expected to be released sometime between 26th March and 16th April. So watch out for D Day. I personally feel that the release of the viewbar will further boost the ever growing memberships in Agloco and help to build the confidence of members in Agloco.

Viewbar Update: Our lead tech development engineer is still in Shanghai with the Viewbar team (now seven engineers). Cutting to the point, the current release date is now between 18 and 39 days from today (between Monday March 26th and Monday April 16th). I am told this is all a function of the QA testing results.

If you have yet to decide whether you should join Agloco or not, please read my previous post (Did you miss out on Google, Yahoo, MySpace and now...). What could a Chinese dumpling maker and Mexican telecom mogul possibly have in common? They're among a record number of wealthy people who held the title of billionaire over the past year. The tally of billionaires around the globe reached a high of 946, their combined wealth growing 35 percent to $3.5 trillion, according to Forbes magazine's 2007 rankings of the world's richest people.

The rich cashed in on strong equity markets, real estate and commodity prices worldwide, according to Forbes billionaires co-editor Luisa Kroll.

"It's just been kind of an extraordinary year for markets worldwide," she said.

Leading the list are two men who manage to keep getting richer as they give more and more money away. Microsoft founder Bill Gates ranked No. 1 for the 13th straight year, beating out friend and fellow philanthropist Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

Gates's fortune rose $6 billion to $56 billion last year, while Buffett garnered in an additional $10 billion to boost his net worth to $52 billion.

Only five Americans ranked in the top 20, though they account for 44 percent of the overall list.

Breathing down Buffett's neck was Mexican telecom giant Carlos Slim Helu, who added $19 billion to his existing fortune, the largest one-year gain over the past decade. With $49 billion to his name, Helu was just $3 billion shy of the No. 2 spot.

Starbucks Corp. chairman Howard Schultz and former Disney CEO Michael Eisner joined the ranks of the world's richest for the first time, behind new faces Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, Canadian co-chiefs of Blackberry maker Research In Motion Ltd.

Self-made mogul Li Wei, founder of Synear Food Holding, made the list for the first time along with a dozen other Chinese newcomers. Her company, one of the country's largest producers of frozen food, including sweet and meat dumplings, is an official supplier to the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.

All bets were off for online gambling moguls Ruth Parasol, Russell DeLeon and Calvin Ayre, who dropped from the list after recent crackdowns limiting offshore gambling Web sites.

Bumped from the top 20 were the Wal-Mart Stores Inc. heirs, who saw their company's stock languish, and Michael Dell, founder of computer maker Dell Inc. Losing billionaire status entirely was Yoshiaki Tsutsumi, the once-powerful Japanese industrialist who first topped the tally in 1987.

Japan surrendered its title as Asia's leading billionaire locale to India, which boasts 36 megarich on the list. Russia contributed 53 billionaires and now challenges Germany as home to the most billionaires outside the United States.

Among three Indians in the wealthiest top 20 are Mukesh and Anil Ambani, feuding brothers who got even richer after dividing their fortunes in 2005. Mukesh Ambani ranked 14th with a $20.1 billion fortune, while brother Anil came in four places lower at No. 18 with his $18.2 billion.

The methodology of the rankings remains similar to previous years, Kroll said. The magazine confirmed the worth of an individual's holdings in public companies by using the Feb. 9 closing stock price, and estimated the value of private companies by evaluating comparable public firms in the industry and by consulting with experts in the field.

I have blogged a lot lately about Members being AGLOCO founders and how the ‘Members who stick their necks out’ will benefit from AGLOCO’s success. And we must recognize the importance of these efforts. But EVERY Member needs to be able to share in the advantages AGLOCO has to offer. Without delivering on that promise, AGLOCO would fail.

I have seen talk about this for some time now, and I addressed one aspect of this in a previous blog post. Still, the overall value proposition for the “average” Member without any referrals goes back to what I had written before: “You have Viewbar on screen, we pay you for it.”

So, if a Member just wants to be a Member and not recruit new Members (and frankly, 80% to 90% will not), why should they join AGLOCO?

As some Members have also pointed out, I believe the answer to is that AGLOCO’s Membership benefits need to far outweigh any costs.

The key benefits a regular Member will get are a modest but steady financial payout and a functional toolbar that will be useful while browsing the Internet. Compared to what a Member with 2,000 referrals will get if AGLOCO succeeds, this may not seem like much. Some financial payout is still ‘infinitely’ more than these Members get with a Google or Yahoo toolbar, and over time the Viewbar and the AGLOCO website will become a community building forum with useful functionally.

Since AGLOCO Membership and Viewbar software is free, what cost is there?

Signing up takes less than two minutes, the Viewbar download is a one-time install process (updates will be processed automatically … more on that later), the Viewbar uses a small section of space at the bottom of the screen and the current limit of 5 hours of browsing each month is accrued passively while the Viewbar is active on the desktop. AGLOCO only has once a month Member update emails, so overall the ‘cost’ of AGLOCO has been kept very low.

Are there risks? AGLOCO could fail and this small effort could be wasted. But Member privacy is absolutely secure, and there is little else the Member is putting out there to be ‘risked’. Thus, I’d have to say that the risk is also small.

At AGLOCO, we are constantly thinking of the ‘regular’ Member. While we count on the incentives we provide to builders in order to grow the network, without a sound value proposition to ALL Members, surely the company will fail.

Viewbar Update: Our lead tech development engineer is still in Shanghai with the Viewbar team (now seven engineers). Cutting to the point, the current release date is now between 18 and 39 days from today (between Monday March 26th and Monday April 16th). I am told this is all a function of the QA testing results.

There has been a lot of blog discussion related to the technical specifications of the website, and the ‘comments’ section to the last post has acted as a forum for us to hear, respond to, and learn from Member feedback.
